Breast Cancer in Young Women 

Breast cancer in young females (less than 35 years at time of diagnosis) 


Breast cancer rarely occurs in young females. Management problems in young females can be complex. 


Discussion will involve: 

  • health, social and emotional aspects.
  • thorough family history to rule out the possibility of gene mutations.
  • genetic testing/counselling.
  • reproductive problems and planning of future pregnancies
  • molecular biology, aggressiveness of tumour and prognosis


Treatment planning and sequencing like the need for aggressive treatments. 

  • operative planning
  • breast remodelling and reconstructive options
  • preoperative and postoperative adjuvant treatments
